Alfie

Does not meet 4 of this site’s four inclusion criteria, so it is not in the catalogue.

Unconfirmed

This is a statement about what this site lists, not about the product. The criteria are deliberately narrow (multi-purpose home robots that physically handle objects and adapt to what they find), and a robot can be excellent and still sit outside them. The criteria in full.

Criteria it does not meet

  • Multi-task by design

    Not met

Performs two or more distinct household task types. Not a single-purpose appliance, and not one task described several ways.

Not confirmed by the vendor. Prosper's own site states only that Alfie's "purpose is to serve people" and gives no task list. Third-party descriptions disagree with each other: Crunchbase lists cooking, office cleaning and bed-making, while a robot-database aggregator site lists dishwasher loading, laundry folding and surface cleaning. Contradictory, unconfirmed third-party claims are not a basis for meeting this criterion.

    Evidence: 2. Crunchbase

  • Physical manipulation

    Not met

Has arms, grippers or manipulators, and can pick up, move or handle objects.

As with the task list, only third-party descriptions of arms or grippers exist, and they disagree with each other. The vendor publishes no specification.

    Evidence: 2. Crunchbase

  • AI-driven autonomy

    Not met

Copes with unscripted variation within a task: it perceives what is actually there and adapts, rather than replaying a fixed motion sequence. How a task is started is not part of this test.

Third-party sources disagree on whether Alfie is teleoperated with no autonomous model (Crunchbase: "general purpose teleop robot") or runs "a proprietary local AI engine" with natural-language commands (a robot-database aggregator site). Prosper's own site states neither. The aggregator gives specific details, including an exact price and a UK beta region, that appear nowhere on the vendor's own site, so it is not treated as evidence here.

Evidence: 1. Prosper Robotics, 2. Crunchbase

  • Credible home path

    Not met

Targets domestic use, and has a public price, preorder or announced release window. Pure research demos are excluded.

The vendor's own site gives no price, date, region or waitlist; it is limited to a short statement of purpose. A criterion that cannot be evidenced is not met.

    Evidence: 1. Prosper Robotics

Criteria it does meet

None of the four, on the evidence found. That is unusual, and it usually means little has been published about the robot rather than that the robot does little. The confidence label above says which.

What would change this

Would qualify if Prosper's own site, or any reliable vendor channel, states what Alfie actually does, how it is controlled, and any consumer price, date or region.

Records are re-checked as the field moves. A robot that meets all four criteria later moves into the catalogue.
