IRON
Does not meet 3 of this site’s four inclusion criteria, so it is not in the catalogue.
This is a statement about what this site lists, not about the product. The criteria are deliberately narrow (multi-purpose home robots that physically handle objects and adapt to what they find), and a robot can be excellent and still sit outside them. The criteria in full.
Criteria it does not meet
-
Multi-task by design
Not metPerforms two or more distinct household task types. Not a single-purpose appliance, and not one task described several ways.
No physical household chore is demonstrated or claimed for the current or near-term robot, and the criterion requires at least one. Vendor material describes it in general "everyday life" and "long-term companion" terms only; companionship counts as a task type, but no specific companion function is described either. The one specific claim found beyond that -- that it "could eventually handle household jobs, including cleaning and folding laundry" -- is independent press describing a future aspiration, not a current or demonstrated capability, and vendor lists of future capabilities are not current multi-task ability.

-
Physical manipulation
Not metHas arms, grippers or manipulators, and can pick up, move or handle objects.
Vendor specifies 21 degrees of freedom in each hand and 76 across the body, but no source found, vendor or independent, describes or shows the hands grasping, carrying or otherwise handling an object. Hardware capable of manipulation is not the same as manipulation shown, and a criterion that cannot be evidenced is not met.

-
Credible home path
Not metTargets domestic use, and has a public price, preorder or announced release window. Pure research demos are excluded.
Initial deployment is explicitly confined to XPeng's own stores and campuses. Independent press on the planned 2027 rollout describes shipments going to "commercial customers" for roles such as customer service and guided tours: a commercial and institutional offer, not a home one. No price, preorder or home-specific release date has been announced for IRON.

Criteria it does meet
Stated as plainly as the ones above. These are not consolation: they are part of the record, and on some of these pages the evidence here is stronger than anything in the catalogue.

AI-driven autonomy
MetCopes with unscripted variation within a task: it perceives what is actually there and adapts, rather than replaying a fixed motion sequence. How a task is started is not part of this test.
Vendor states IRON runs its "Physical AI foundation model" on three onboard chips (2,250 TOPS combined) and "can autonomously perform complex tasks without remote operation" -- a specific architectural claim beyond a marketing adjective, though it names no specific task and is unconfirmed by any independent source.

What would change this
Would qualify if XPeng demonstrates IRON performing at least two distinct household tasks, at least one of them a physical chore such as cleaning or laundry, shows its hands actually handling an object, and states a consumer price, preorder or release window aimed at homes rather than its own stores, campuses or commercial and institutional customers.
Records are re-checked as the field moves. A robot that meets all four criteria later moves into the catalogue.
